Kiran Pradhan

Hey there Info students!

My name is Kiran Pradhan and I am excited to accept my nomination for IUGA President for the 2020 - 2021 year! When I began my university career, I was immediately drawn to the Information School because of our commitment to community and social good while studying topics that define the frontier of today’s tech-centric world. Over the past few years, Informatics has gained incredible traction becoming one of the most popular majors on campus. But as we continue to grow in size, I think it’s vital that we do not forsake the community we work so hard to foster. That is what I want to focus on in the upcoming year.

I believe the feeling of community will be achieved when all Informatics students know each other by name. This will change the dynamic inside class and outside to be more collaborative in nature, which will no doubt increase the quality of work we put in and get out of our education. After all, studying is more exciting when you’re having fun! Check out my video below for details of how I want to tackle this next year!

When I got into Informatics, I immediately wanted to get involved and joined IUGA as a First-Year Representative. This year I am serving as your IUGA Director of Finance. Next year will be my third year in this major and the experiences I have had so far creating new events like Demystifying the Tracks, managing budgets, and bringing your opinions and suggestions to the Student Leadership Committee has prepared me for the position of IUGA President. I know the ins-and-outs of running this association and am full of ideas to make Informatics a more welcoming place for all students!

I am beyond excited to have this opportunity to lead IUGA and represent Informatics to faculty and staff. I am hardworking and enthusiastic and excited to foster a more inclusive major community to help facilitate making connections with your fellow students and make school a fun place to be!
